Focus On Medical Spa Alternatives to Plastic Surgery for your Spa Clients

As an aesthetician you may have had a client in the past, and if not you surely will have one in the future, who has a skin condition that you can’t do much for. The client may be considering plastic surgery, or may simply not have an answer and could be asking you for help in coming up with a viable solution to the skin problem. It could be scarring left by severe acne, a rash, wrinkles that won’t go away, or one of many other problems an aging client can suffer from. If and when that situation occurs and you need to provide advice, consider recommending a high quality medical spa and the services it provides. For many clients this will be a viable alternative to plastic surgery.

A medical spa, unlike a traditional day spa, is required to operate under the supervision of a physician. Treatments offered can be more invasive in nature but can still be of a non-surgical nature. In addition many medical spas offer some of the same treatments found in the offices of plastic surgeons. A medical spa in many ways seems to be a bridge between the two related and allied worlds of the aesthetician and the plastic surgeon, offering services unique to both professions. Having a high quality medical spa for referral purposes in your inventory is the mark of a professional in the world of aesthetician, just as it is for the plastic surgeon.

Since a medical spa is operated under the supervision of a licensed healthcare professional such as a medical doctor, medical spas are able to  utilize lasers and IPIL or intense pulsed light technology as well as medical microdermabrasion, dermabrasion itself, Botox, photofacials, Restylene, chemical peels including Phenol deep peels and other medical and beauty procedures that a traditional day spa may not be able to  offer. State regulations can vary, but most medical spas also offer traditional services such as body treatments, facial sand massages.

If your client is in need of more assistance than you are able to offer, but you don’t believe she is at that point yet where invasive plastic surgery procedures are necessary, consider recommending a high quality medical spa. The results may be just what she needs and as a professional you will have performed an outstanding service for your client.
