A Closer Look at Spa Equipment: The Busy Facial Bed

The spa industry is growing and as an aesthetician you want to have the right equipment in order to serve hour clients properly. Just as you ensure that you have the proper training and licenses before you go into business, it is also essential to make sure that you have acquired the proper equipment to do your ob properly and present the best possible impression to your clients. When looking for a facial bed keep in mind the need for ease of maintenance, good warranties, durability, an ability to get service when needed and credibility of the company that manufactured the facial bed.

Of course you must decide on the services you wish to offer. What is the emphasis of your practice? Do you primarily promote relaxation or beauty? Skincare or hydrotherapy? Do you practice in a day spa or a medical spa? Take everything into account when determining the equipment you need and making your purchases. You want equipment that matches your style of work and your business personality.

Research and experience the equipment you are considering yourself. Get referrals from those who have used the equipment you are considering.  Base your purchasing decisions on your vision of the service you wish to offer. And of course add to this practical information concerning your budget. You always want to purchase the best possible equipment that you can afford at the time, looking at each purchase as a long term investment. Equipment is a big and very important investment so make sure you comply with safety standards. Also make sure the facial bed you purchase has a warranty of at least two years covering parts and labor if you buy it new. Buying used is also a valid option if the price is low enough.

Facial beds can range in price from around $200 at the low to more than $600 for hydraulic beds and more advanced, deluxe facial beds. When determining the type of facial bed to purchase you also need to decide if you need a portable facial bed or a stationary bed. Will you be traveling to client locations or will they be coming to you? If they will be coming to you there is no need for a portable bed, but if you can have one as a spare, it will allow you that option and could expand business horizons and lead to an increase in income.
