Your Aesthetics Business Needs a Website and Be Sure to Keep the Content Fresh

Your aesthetics business needs a web site, and be sure to keep the content fresh. Why you may ask. We live in not only a computer age, but an Internet age. Many people no longer use the old trusty phone book when looking for businesses they need. Instead they go online. Many people now “Google” to find what they need, even if the search engine they use is not Google. It may be Yahoo, Alta Vista, Dogpile, Webcrawler, MSN or one of many other search engines out there on the world wide web, but whichever one it is, you need to be on the Internet to grab their attention, let them know that you are a serious contender in the world of business and get them to make our phone ring or come to your door.

If you don’t have a web site, creating one is not that difficult. You can hire a professional web designer to create an attractive web site for you, or you can find one of the many avid hobbyists who do this type of work on the side. Or you can do it yourself. It really is not that difficult and if you have an eye for graphic design this is a great way to express our own creativity. The code used to create web sites is called HTML for hypertext mark up language. You can use Word Pad or the text mode of your word processing software to write your copy and insert the codes. Or you can use a program like Dreamweaver, Microsoft FrontPage, or one of the other web design program available in any office supply store. Or use Microsoft Word for a simple site and save our creation as a web page in Word.

For that matter, many of the larger online hosting services offer templates you can use to create an attractive web site while knowing nothing of code or how they are created. These sites look good, are simple and will serve the needs of most small businesses.

Once you’ve created your site you need to bring in traffic, or get people to go to your site. You need to list your site with all the major search engines. This is free to do but can be time consuming. Of course there are services that will do this for you for a small fee, but if you do it yourself you’ll feel a sense of accomplishment and save some money. Consider also adding a blog or daily web log to your site and update it daily with short articles about various aspects of your business to keep people coming back for more.
