Golden Rules of Customer Service: You Are the Face of the Company
Remember the golden rule of customer service: you are the face of the company and everything that you say and do when it comes to clients reflects on the company. As far as the client is concerned, the company is you, so being on your best behavior and seeking to make the best possible impression is just a natural part of your job.
As an example, think of telephone etiquette. Be as courteous as you can be on the telephone, which is often where a client will get their first impression of the company. Be sure to speak clearly, have a friendly voice, don’t chew gum while talking and ensure that all questions are answered in a prompt and friendly manner.
When the client comes into your business pay attention to how you are dressed. Always dress for success. If your workplace is a casual environment that’s fine, but make sure that jewelry is not too flashy. If you have piercings or tattoos make sure that they don’t show while you are at work. Make sure your nails are clean and be ready for constant client interaction when you come into work. Then when talking to clients make sure that each clients feels as though they have one hundred percent of your attention when you are talking with them. Look them in the eye, smile, and genuinely try to be as friendly as you possibly can be. Make them feel welcome and at home.
Your business spends a great deal of money on marketing to bring people into the door to become clients. It is essential that when they come into that door they feel welcome and receive the best possible impression so that they will not only want to stay on this visit but will want to come back in the future and will tell their friends and acquaintances about your buns. You are a sales person for the company at all times in addition to your normal duties. You are also a living, breathing, walking and talking advertisement of the company. Show that you care about the needs of your client and they will stay with you for many years to come, providing one of many continuous sources of income and referrals. Your business depends on quality customer service so be sure that you provide it.
