Choosing Paint Colors for Your Treatment Room
Choosing paint colors for your treatment room is something you may not have thought about before, but it truly is an important topic. Your clients spend time in the room and need to be set at ease and relaxed before and during any treatment. Choosing relaxing colors is a wise idea.
Pastels and Soft Colors Are Best
Pastels and soft colors are always a good idea. Light green and light blue would generally be the favorite of most people since so many studies have shown that these two colors tend to relax people. If those colors are not available a neutral color such as an off white, or egg shell shade can also be a good choice. Think Miami Vice, not the movie but the old TV show. Remember the sensation it made and the sudden popularity of jackets and T-shirts in soft, neutral and pastel colors? If you can imagine it being worn on a Sonny Crocket T-shirt, it is probably ok for your treatment room.
Know What Colors To Avoid
Perhaps even more important than what color to choose for your treatment room is what color or color scheme to avoid using. Definitely stay away from those colors that induce excitement. Red, yellow, pink, orange, and bright colors should not be used. Take a look at fire trucks and fire hydrants. Probably red or yellow, depending on your town, right? Then take a look at the vests that road crewmen wear. Orange. These colors attract attention and are noticeable. You want your client to be concentrating on relaxation and on the treatment, not getting excited by wall colors.
Wall Paper and Wall Decorations To Watch Out For
Wall paper with busy patterns and bright shades is also something to be avoided. If your decorating staff prefers wall paper then finding patterns that contribute to mental and emotional peaceful discourse are best. The same is true paintings, statures, drawings, photos or other wall decorations. Neutral colors, preferably pastels, will sooth the client and will interact well with soft music, aroma therapy and the treatment procedure.
If In Doubt, Investigate
If you are in doubt as to what paint to use in your treatment room then take a look at what other businesses use who try to induce relaxation in their patrons. You don’t want a cold and sterile environment, you want warm and friendly, but as neutral as possible. Visit the offices of other professionals, or consult a decorator who has worked with similar professionals in the past. If you do your homework you’ll make the right choice.
